We have a lot of experience in this area and know how to overcome challenging manufacturing environments, what works well and how to get the best out of a shoot. There is a good commercial property photography case study here.
Before the shoot we discuss your requirements and brief. From this we can work out the best way to proceed and begin to develop a plan and framework for the shoot. This can be a detailed brief or a few lines of text and allows you to organise and prepare engineers, operatives and areas for the shoot, as well as deciding on any props and to work out time scales. This is a good way to ensure you get all the photography you need. This is not alway possible though, particularly on construction projects and we also work to a general brief and provide a versatile range of shots that can be used on a website, print, social media and PR.

Architectural photography poses it's own challenges. The decisive moment is extended beyond a fraction of a second, but nevertheless time and viewpoint are just as crucial. It's amazing how quick the sun moves when you don't want it to or how slow it is when you are waiting fo the right moment.
Generally light is more flattering during the hour after and before sunrise. However day time architectural photography can give a more realistic impression of the building and emphasise the architect and not the photographer Either way the sun and shadows move with surprising speed when you're in the process of setting up a shot.
Matthew Jones works throughout the UK and you can discover more about his Architectural Photography though this website.
We aspire to offer the best value proposition for Commercial and Architectural photography in the county. Architectural Photography relies on solid techniques to produce high quality interior and exterior photographs. When natural light is good getting good photographs is relativity straight forward and this is the case for maybe 25% of the time. For most Architectural Photography work the biggest single challenge is lighting; shadows, highlights and low contrast areas must me allowed for and corrected. There is no one technique that provides the magic bullet.
Experience, planning and an insistence on high production standards as well as a good eye for composition are key aspects of producing Architectural Photography that stands and and draws the viewers attention. Weather and the seasons significantly affect the approach architectural photographers adopt, often taking advantage of the light and environment. Planning and waiting for the right time to shoot buildings is illustrated by a winter drone shoot we did of a similar holiday park.
It also helps have specialist lenses suitable for photographing architecture and interiors and good post production skills. At Matthew Jones Photography we use a prime lenses and a DJI Mavic Pro drone to ensure we have the right tools at are disposal
Here are the results from a specialist luxury lodge shoot near Dovedale in Derbyshire. These lodges are pet friendly and a located in a country holiday park with a swimming pool and restaurant on site.

It is clear we have reached and even gone beyond the point and where not acting on environmental issues is going to cost more then not acting. The industrial and manufacturing sectors look to suppliers to assist them in their environmental obligations. This shouldn't be a burden though and through innovation and investment from businesses such as Willshee's there is a productivity and efficiency pay off in addition to environmental benefits.
Willshee's represents the very best if modern waste management and waste recycling, which is one of the reasons the company is growing rapidly. While I was shown around by the director Dean Willshee he told be of the remarkable story of how his father started with nothing and how it passed into his hands and grew into a multi million pound business, an incredible story.
The company provides a range of services based on zero landfill and process domestic and industrial waste.
Waste management has come along way since the era of the 'dustbin' man of my childhood.
We provide industrial photography for companies, organisations and businesses throughout the UK that are looking for advertising, website and commercial photography. We work with marketing departments, communication teams and media agencies to convey ideas and brands through strong imagery.

Headshot Photography is an important investment and it is worth spending a few minutes to get it right. Here are Matthew's top tips for great headshot photography.
Think about how your headshots are going to be used and what is the intended purpose. Yes, it's to put a name to a face and create a good first impression but what else? A professional law firm will have a different look to an energetic edgy marketing agency.

Discuss this with the photographer and brief your colleagues beforehand.
Generally, neutral colours and solids are best... But it comes down to personality, personal brand, and business brand... and just to add further complexities you need to be aware of your target audience. If you are reaching out to millennials you may decide to take a different approach to baby boomers.
This could be a good time to buy branded polo shirts or other clothing.
Take away point
Have a chat with your marketing manager, director and colleagues to discuss this.
Studio headshots are consistent and predictable, however, office or urban backgrounds can also work well. By using portable lighting and reflectors, working with natural light can look impressive. Think what is going to work best for you company brand
Try and get a good nights sleep so you are fresh and look your best, don't overdo the makeup and do your best to be relaxed.
It can be a stressful experience and many people are out of their comfort zone when in front of the camera.
Your photographer will know this and do their best to help you relax, they want you to get the best shot possible.
An experienced photographer will guide you on how to stand or sit and will make small changes to the position of your head and the lighting, to get the best possible result for you. Everyone is different.
So be relaxed and even if you don't feel it act confident and be bold, you are in safe hands.
If a shot doesn't work it will be deleted and gone forever, trust the photographer.
This is more of a problem in the summer when shooting under artificial lights. Concealer or foundation will help or a quick face wash with cold water before the shoot.
If you have long hair I would recommend bringing a hairbrush with you to the shoot. The camera will pick up fine details and it can be difficult to photoshop out straggly ends. If you have a fringe try to keep it from covering your eyes.
Glasses aren't normally a problem. Many photographers will take a shoot with them on and use photoshop to iron out any issues. However, it is good to give your glasses a quick clean first. Remember to push them back on your nose, when they slip down the top of the frame will often clash with the eye line.
It is worth spending a few seconds giving yourself a once over. Check everything is as it should be and your necklace is in the right place, you have no food in your teeth etc.
Nine out of ten people look better with a smile. Photographers use all sorts of techniques to get people to smile. I've tried pretty much all of them and I find it best just to ask. Sometimes it helps to think of something that makes you happy, I will often ask people to laugh. Although it doesn't sound easy I found it to work really well. Smiling with teeth tends to be the best look for most people.
As I mentioned it can be daunting and starting with 'I hate having my photograph taken' and 'You'll never get a good shot from me' isn't the best way to start a shoot to get the most pleasing shots. It's unfortunate but photographing nervous people tends to take longer than photographing someone who is confident and follows the above advice.
My advice it to act confident and assertive even if you don't feel it. One of the worst outcomes is a headshot that depicts someone as timid and nervous, this is really an unusable headshot.
So have some faith in yourself and the photographer.

Willshee's Waste and Recycling represents the very best of modern waste management. They provide a range of services based on 'zero waste to landfill', protecting the environment as well as saving businesses money.
They produce fuels from residual waste, using a range of processing techniques, the resulting products are used to generate energy at recovery facilities, helping customers to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and so avoid landfilling this residual waste.
Over the last year Willshee’s has processed over 40,000 tonnes of waste and diverted it from landfill.

During the last 2 and half years I've been traveling up the A1 / M1 to Teesside on behalf of APC to photograph the construction of the world largest purpose built CHP biomass power plant.
Globally the trend is transitioning from fossil fuels, to a mix of sustainable low carbon alternatives. This £650m project is indicative of the state of play in global power distribution and a historical marker of where we are today in the UK. Reliable and consistent power is increasingly critical to our existence, on the other side of the coin, global warming is potentially a catastrophic threat to the very same. This Plant will produce around 299MW of low carbon power from sustainable resources. The fuel is primarily waste material from sawmills, that use sustainable forests, tracked from point of origin to the plant and regulated by Ofgem.
This plant is highly efficient achieving over 80% efficiency compared to a maximum of 40% from coal-fired alternatives. This is in part due to those easily missed letters CHP. ‘Combined Heat and Power’ integrates the otherwise wasted heat into the power generation process. Although the advantages of this plant far out way the downsides, there are two primary adverse considerations. Biomass fuel can cause pollution, although this particular plant uses technology to clean the waste gases before they enter the atmosphere. The other main issue is transportation, which adds to the carbon footprint and also additional cost.
Here is a selection of pictures of the early construction phase. They include my two patient guides for the day, Colman and Patrick.

A few photographs from a editorial shoot for AB Magazine, for an article they are running on Mo Suleman, Director of Resources for the Derby Museum Trust. Editorial shoots allow a little more freedom to be creative. Given the location there were many options, even if the lighting conditions were challenging.
I was fortunate to have a personal tour from Mo and the first surprise was the award winning cafe called the Coffee House.
As we walked around Mo spoke about some of the changes he has made and his ambitions for Derby's Museums and city center Library. In a nutshell, to raise their profile within the City and realisie their potential, to fulfill an active role in the cultural, social, education and business spheres of the city and wider community. Here is an example of the right man at the right time. It is encouraging to find his combination of business acumen and ambitious vision driving positive change in Derby.
If you haven't been to the museum for a while it really is worth a visit.
