There are many things that furnish places with identity and character and Chesterfield has them in abundance. While it often feels as though our towns and cities are losing their identity and becoming characterless, happily this is not the case in the town of Chesterfield.
The Percent for Art scheme was created as part of Chesterfield’s Local Plan. It asks all schemes costing over £1m to include a work of art to the value of 1% of the total cost of the project.
This is how the Chesterfield Art Trail came about. Here are a few photographs from my visits to some sites on the trail. There is also a map of all 70 plus sites also below.
